Virus count reaches 18

Van Zandt County now has a total count of 18 of confi rmed COVID-19 cases. The Northeast Texas Public Health District also released that out of the 18, six of them are in the recovery phase. In Van Zandt County, Van has the highest number of cases at six. Canton has four cases; Wills Point, three cases; Grand Saline, two cases; and Edgewood, Murchinson and Chandler all have one. The only death related to the virus was in Murchinson.

Sheriff’s Office helps locate child

The Van Zandt County Sheriff’s Office released the following information regarding a missing 4-year-old child on May 4. “On May 4, 2020, at 6:53 p.m., the Van Zandt County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the 10000 block of FM 1651 in the Whitton Community in reference to a missing 4-year-old child with disabilities who had allegedly wandered off from a residence.
